How Can I Refill My Emptiness?

Today was such an inspirational day!  I Went to a talk show hosted by one of my friends.  The theme was "Light in the Darkness". The talk show dealt with many topics that most preachers tend to avoid when preaching.  The programme hold the beginning of many talk shows to come in which I simply can not wait to attend, and I rarely go places (living the quite life all the way :P).

Personally, I think coming to the talk show was one of the best decisions I've  made in weeks! I must admit before I came there I wasn't feeling myself but I was so happy that I didn't leave feeling the same way! I felt as if I was at the right place at the right time and it felt so damn GOOD. There was so many interesting questions asked from the audience which were beautifully answered by the five panels and by few of the audiences as well, and their answers really opened my eyes to alot of things that I've thought there weren't even answers to. I just can't wait to go to more of these talk shows, It's defiantly on my list of "must go" places!!

A question triggered me, which says "How can I refill my emptiness?" I must say this question was beautifully answered by the  panels assigned for the day.

Many people, if not all, have felt some emptiness in their lives in one way or another. For some these feelings may have lasted for a short time and for others it may somehow have taking over their lifes and some still might be thirsty and hunger for this emptiness to be filled.

For your emptiness to be full, it requires patient. You need to draw closer to God even if you feel as if He doesn't hear you. He's everywhere, He's in everyone, He's in everything (I am, that I am -Exodus 3:14), He is in everything He created, EVERYTHING!, His listening even if He isn't speaking. Even if you feel as if He's not there, when your emotions want to deceive you keep at it, and hold on tight to His word. A relationship with God is enough to supply all your needs for eternity. Thoughts can trigger your emotions, but you must discipline your thoughts. What you think about can affect what fills your soul. If your thoughts is full of happiness, joy, good things, eventually your mind, body and soul will also be full of these things. But if your soul, mind and spirit is filled with anger, sadness, negative thoughts etc it could all cause emptiness to your life. Fill your thoughts with spiritual things, feel it with the Word of God, feel it with love, peace, kindness and joy!

Feeling empty is one of the darkest emotions you can feel. No matter what you do, how much fun you have (going to parties, hanging out with friends), or how much effort you put in into avoiding that emptiness, at the end of the day you will always meet it lurking around to be answered to. Do you know you can be the richest person in the world and still feel empty, or  you can have thousands and thousands of shoes/clothes/bags etc and still fill completely empty. Emptiness is a very strong emotion in which an individual will start to think that no body understands him/her, or that there's never a way out of this, and that's where depression creeps in, when isolation, suicidal thoughts crawls into ones thoughts and takes over. But believe it or not, there's a really easy way out of this all. And NO there's no need to sign up for monthly counselling classes, but to just lay everything in the hands of the maker Himself, Jesus Christ. When you start to read the Word, day by day, mediating on it and asking for the Holy Spirit to guide you, you will begin to feel that your emptiness is been filled, first you wouldn't know exactly what it is, exactly what is filling this emptiness inside but as you continue to draw closer and closer to Him you'll begin to see that your emptiness is been replace by His Love, Grace, Mercy and peace. You'll start to realise that His Love is enough for you, and He alone will do for you.

Another thing is, the people you move with can actually trigger your emptiness, when you listen to what they say, their negativity, their bad thoughts and what nots. Be wise with whom you walk with. Bad company corrupts good mind.

One mistake that most people make when they are in this situation after trying many things but found that there's no solution, is that they think that their past is not righteous enough for His Grace. They think that they are just not worthy of His Love. But NO that is not the case at all! Do you know that the reason why Jesus died for us on the cross was to take the sins of the world, OUR SINS, so that we could leave a good life through Him. His arms are always open to receive you no matter what wrong you've done, all He wants from you is for you to believe in Him, leave your old self and follow His ways. He can fill all the holes in your life and all the holes in your heart. He can fix you and switch back the light in you.

Read the Word of God (Bible), day in, day out. Be patient. Be very patient. Just because you've been reading the Bible for a week doesn't mean that God would speak to you immediately( am not saying He couldn't, Yes of course He could, He does whatever pleases Him in Heaven, but am just saying be Patient!). Be Patient. Build a relationship with Him. You wouldn't fully know a person until you spend time with them? Why would you think God is any different?! Spend time with Him. Most times that we say He doesn't listen to us, it maybe we are just so wrapped up in asking this and asking that or even too wrapped up in whining and complaining that he doesn't listen, and all His been doing is speaking, but we just don't listen. Maybe be quiet for a minute and let Him speak. He's everywhere. He can use anything and everything to speak to us. But are we willing to stay quiet and let Him speak?! His knocking, will you open for Him and invite Him in or are you going to leave Him standing? Your choice, so choose wisely! And Remember He has the power to free you from everything you've been going through! When you talk, you are only repeating what you already know. But if you listen, you may learn something new.

We shape clay into a pot,
But it is the emptiness inside that holds
whatever we want.
